HY2Market

Hydrogen to enter markets reducing carbon emissions footprint

Project description

Creating a hydrogen market for Europe

10 regions with 38 partners are jointly researching and developing a more mature hydrogen value chain across Europe at all market levels. The ultimate desire is to make Europe a resource-efficient and competitive green hydrogen economy. The Hy2Market project drives the creation of interregional and international value chains by connecting regions to work together on various innovations. These innovations include the production, transport and use of green hydrogen to the same extent.

Hy2Market
The project is divided into five work packages:

1. Green hydrogen production and management systems:
This work package examines novel management system innovations and site-specific solutions for the production of green hydrogen. Know-how is built up and practical applications are examined to ensure the integration of green hydrogen into the existing (energy) system.

2. Hydrogen transport
In order to enable safe, affordable and efficient hydrogen transport between production and application, innovative solutions are examined in this work package. Various TRL7-9 transport options are being developed and tested in the regions of Northern Netherlands, Asturias, Upper Austria and Rhône-Alpes. The aim is to clearly identify which infrastructure is required to prepare European regions for a green hydrogen economy.

3. Industrial application
This work package examines the industrial application of green hydrogen. Hydrogen is considered both as an energy source and as a raw material.

4. Mobility application
When applying green hydrogen in mobility, different types of solutions and pilots are being tested in different regions. The aim is to work out the advantages and disadvantages of the individual approaches and to develop an information platform so that future users can access the know-how.

5. Knowledge sharing
A central goal of the entire project is to generate and disseminate knowledge. So that the different regions in Europe learn from each other and thus benefit from the accumulated knowledge. This knowledge should be available to everyone even after the end of the project and thereby drive the further development of regional Hydrogen Valley.
